We are now back for the 2012 season, rehearsing every Wednesday evening! If you can play an instrument, can read music, are willing to practise at home, and are looking for a group that sets a high playing standard along with a whole lot of fun….then we would like to hear from you! We have a need for Clarinets, trombones, and baritones. Oh yes…we already have 10 trumpets so that section is full according to the players sitting in front of that section.
Winter/Spring 2012 Season Has Begun!
Upcoming Concerts

Latin Dancers add Flare!
The Kelowna City Concert Band recently performed: ”A Night in Havana” at the Rotary Centre for the Arts in Kelowna. What best to go along with the music?…. Latin Dancers! Local professional dancers Eric Fox and Christine Smith danced along with the music creating a true Latin feel for the event.
The Kelowna City Band collected a number of instruments at the event from the public, and will donate these musical instruments to a youth band in Cuba.
Please contact Bruce Dougall if you have an instrument to donate. This is an on-going commitment of the Kelowna City Concert Band Society to help out with the student band in Cuba.
UBCO Helps Band
On December 17 2010, a Strategic Plan conducted by UBCO was formally presented to a representative group from the Kelowna City Concert Band Executive. In attendance for the formal presentation at the UBC Campus were Lance Secret, Tim Watson, and Bruce Dougall. The Strategic Plan was studied, researched, compiled and presented by Tiffany Chen, Tyler Hansen, and Jennette Koehn. The in depth study consisted of the Band’s strengths and weaknesses complete with a plan for improvement as an organization and functioning entity in the area of the Arts and civic service to the city and people of Kelowna. The executive were so impressed with the excellent content of the study that they have requested the three business students make the same presentation to the members of the Band at their upcoming AGM in February.
Special thanks is given to UBCO, the three above mentioned students and their Professor Dr. Ian Stuart, Associate Dean Professor, Supply Chain Management, Faculty of Management Okanagan Campus, for their joint efforts in assisting the Band in this endeavour.
UBCO students, interested in becoming involved with the Kelowna City Concert Band as players or in other areas of need, are encouraged to contact Bruce Dougall or Tim Watson.
