We’re proud of our long history in Kelowna!
Fragments of band history have been located but no full records exist. It has been established that the band existed as early as 1894, even before Kelowna was incorporated as a city.
With brief interruptions during World War I and World War II the band has operated continuously ever since. The above picture was taken in about 1900.
Our membership is usually about 50 musicians from throughout the Central Okanagan. Our members are all ages from teens to seniors and all players are volunteers, donating their time for rehearsals and concerts. The band plays at a variety of local functions including annual Remembrance Day ceremonies, Canada Day Folkfest celebrations, Rutland May Days, public concerts in parks, seniors’ homes and other locations and annual fundraising concerts for local charities. We are proud to participate in events involving the people of the City of Kelowna.
We are a non-profit volunteer group of more than 50 musicians who have been entertaining residents of the Kelowna area for well over 100 years. We are always looking for new members and new opportunities to play. We invite you to find out more about us, our concerts, how to join the band or submit a request that we play at your upcoming event. Also, today, we look a just little bit different than the above photo!
